We're Back + Updates to Designers Desk

Building a community, an online store, and more.

Hey what’s good y’all it’s been a minute, but I hope all is well with you!

As some of you may know, I was out with Covid for a few weeks (but i’m all good now, I just needed to rest and recover). Man I’m telling you, Covid was no joke and I’m the type to bounce back from things in a couple days and sometimes even overnight. The fever and fatigue dragged on for a while, then the fever went away and the cough came in and after that the worst was over for me. I still feel the fatigue here and there but I’m slowly bouncing back into lifting weights and everything else.

But today, I was wanted to give you a quick update on some things I’m working on with The Designers Desk, our online store, my upcoming interview, and the community I’m back to working on. From here on out, the newsletter will continue on as it once did — so let’s talk about it.

The Designers Desk Update

With this newsletter, I still plan on continuing to write like I always do and sharing content around agency ops, my experiences, and everything that most — if not all of you have subscribed for so nothing is changing there.

What I do want to change is creating more of a community out of it. I talked to a couple of designers (1 or 2) who I think would be perfect to share their content and write something once a month (or once in a while) as well as me writing primarily. We’ll be sure to share something valuable and make sure it’s coming from a place of authenticity of course.

The Designers Desk Community (+ 1 on 1s and group sessions)

Aside from that, The Designers Desk is going to be a digital space where I hold 1 on 1s and group sessions about helping freelancers make the transition into studio founders that will go along with my curriculum. I talked about this before, but I’m going to be guiding those who sign up through the exact steps I took to build out an agency that I love to work at. It’s going to be a simple framework to follow with sessions with me personally to guide you through the process and answer any questions about creative business and running a studio. There also will be opportunities for those in the group to have group calls and we can all help one another and you can ask questions in that format as well.

This is something I was working on until I got sick, so now we back to working on it and I’ll keep you posted on when all of this is going to be live!

Online Store

For a while, I’ve been wanting my own shop for Crafted Studios. I use to run a streetwear shop with a friend of mine back in the day and it was honestly dope.

Since then, I wanted to wear my own clothes around and see others enjoy the designs just as much as myself - so Thursday at 9am PST our online store will be live. It’s designed by myself & developed by our very own Chris Loggins at Crafted, check out some of the threads below everything in this post. 👕

Interview with Team Member Jack Redley

I’m doing a live interview with Jack who works with us at Crafted and just created his own podcast show called “Webflail”, he asked me to jot down 3 failures that have shaped me creative career so that’s going to be the main topic of discussion. I’ll be sure to give as much good stuff as I can, also it’s live so if you’re interested in this I encourage you to join us for a good conversation and ask questions! I’ll be sure to get back to all of them if I can.

Recap

That’s all for today, we back to posting content this Friday after the interview and I’m sure that will spark much more content ideas for this week so I’ll wait until then, I have a lot to share with all of my experiences as of late with the Studio and I hope all will get some value from it. Let me know your thoughts on anything above, of course I’m making this for y’all so your feedback is important to me!

Thank you, talk soon and take care,

-Dexter
